WARE COUNTY, Ga. — Two people are dead and two others injured after a shooting in Waycross.
Police said the shooting happened Saturday night in the Garlington Heights apartments.
Action News Jax spoke with neighbors who struggled to try and keep the victims alive.
The shots had neighbors coming out of their homes trying to help save the victims. A mark of where one of the bullets hit the door could be seen.
“My grandson thought there were fire crackers going off I said ‘no, baby,’” a neighbor, Jamie Solomon, said.
Solomon said she heard at least seven gunshots and went to the door to find her close friend, 32-year-old Felicia Williams, who goes by the nickname Phats, barely clinging to life.
“It was awful. I was talking to her, trying to hang in there, hang in there, you got boys to think about,” Solomon said.
Phats didn’t make it and her wife said she’s still in shock. Another man, 21-year-old Cameron Wilkins Jr., who neighbors say goes by the name Munt Ru, was also shot and killed.
Neighbor Jeff Strickland said he came running out to help.
