2 teens hit by bullets while sleeping at Jacksonville home

11:30 a.m. update: Two teens and an adult were hit by gunfire after a Jacksonville home was shot up Wednesday night, according to a police report.

Officers with Jacksonville Sheriff's Office heard what they thought was 15 gunshots several blocks from their location just before 11 p.m.

When they got to a home on McConihe Street, they heard a woman screaming at the top of her lungs that her baby was shot, officers said.

Officers could also smell something burning and found the house's foundation on fire.

According to the police report, nearly a dozen people were inside the home when someone outside opened fire on it.

Two teens were asleep in a bedroom when they were hit by bullets, the report says.

Officers found a 12-year-old boy bleeding from his arm, left ear and several spots on his legs.

A 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg and a 21-year-old man was shot in the ankle, according to the report.

A 3- and 11-year-old were also home at the time of the shooting, the report says.

Other people inside the house said they heard multiple shots fired and saw bullets come in through the bedrooms and the kitchen area, according to police.

JFRD also responded to the scene and contained the fire and administered medical aid.

JSO is continuing to investigate and are searching for a suspect.

Thursday update: The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in which three people were shot on McConihe Street in Northwest Jacksonville late Wednesday night.

JSO said they received a call of people shot around 11 p.m. Wednesday and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue department transported three males to UF Health with non-life threatening gun shot injuries.

According to JSO, two of the three victims are juveniles.

JSO said they believe that someone also set the house on fire, but that there are no witnesses or suspects.

JFRD was able to put the fire out and believe that some type of chemical accelerant was used to start the fire.
