$2K in lawn care equipment stolen from business

A brazen thief jumped a fence and stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment from a local business and it was all caught on camera.

A weed eater, hedge trimmer and backpack blower totaling close to $2,000 were all stolen overnight from TLC Total Lawn Care on Blanding Boulevard.

“Some guy jumped our fence and went through our trucks, found some equipment that wasn’t locked up, took it and ran off with it,” said the president of the company, James Hawkinson.

Action News Jax got the surveillance from the business that shows a man climbing a fence and making off with the three lawn care equipment items.

“He had someone helping him at a distance with the cellphone. We have a picture of that truck,” said Hawkinson.

The surveillance video shows the man was on the phone the entire time. Then a truck pulls up, he tosses the equipment over before he jumps the fence again and they drive off.

Hawkinson said it was tough Thursday morning without having all the equipment for the crews to go out and work.

“I just think if he worked that hard and was that smart to do the right thing, he would do better than doing it the wrong way,” said Hawkinson.

Hawkinson said all the equipment is bright green with the serial numbers and name of the company engraved in the equipment.
