A 911 call from a Sonny's BBQ worker reveals the moments after a sex offender tried to kidnap a girl in the restaurant bathroom.
The worker told the 911 dispatcher that a girl came running out of the men's bathroom at Sonny's BBQ at 5328 New Jesup Highway on Saturday afternoon.
"A little girl just came running out of the bathroom -- the wrong bathroom -- saying someone tried to kidnap her," she told the dispatcher.
The worker told the dispatcher there were several people in the bathroom when the girl came running out crying.
"He had her hand over her mouth and grabbed her," the worker told the dispatcher.
She told the dispatcher that the girl's parents let her go to the bathroom by herself, and that's when he attacked her.
The family was traveling through Brunswick from Florida when she was attacked, the woman told the dispatcher.
John Schuler, 40, of Waycross, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Action News Jax found records that show Schuler is a registered sex offender who was convicted of child molestation in 2008.
