Car with body inside found in retention pond in Jacksonville Beach neighborhood

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is investigating a death where the body  was found in a car floating in a retention pond.

Police said they found the car at the Sanctuary residential development on Sept. 26 at about 8:45 a.m.

The car and body have since been removed, police said.

A resident inside the development called police about the vehicle floating in the retention pond.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department and Jacksonville Beach Fire-Rescue responded to the area to locate the vehicle and whoever might have been inside.

The vehicle was found in the pond behind several houses in the 1000 block of Blue Heron Lane West.
