DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A child was found dead in Jacksonville Wednesday morning and the child's father was arrested.
Darien Head, 21, is charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the 100 block of King Street near McCoy Creek around 9 a.m.
Officers arrived and found the child, 2-year-old Amari Raynard Barnhill, unresponsive.
The toddler was taken to Wolfson Children's Hospital where he died. Foul play is suspected in the toddler's death.

JSO said Amari had "severe bruising and lacerations on his buttocks" and "severe bruising on the front and back of his legs, bruising on the left side of his face/ear area and a severe laceration on his head."
Head and his girlfriend were with the child. Two other children were at the residence at the time and were not harmed, according to officials.
According to JSO records, Head was arrested in 2013 on two counts of domestic battery and one count of interference with custody.
Police are also questioning the child's mother, and the mother's boyfriend. JSO is continuing to investigate. A cause of death for Amari has not yet been determined.
