A Jacksonville mother is irate after she told Action News Jax on Thursday that her first-grader soiled her pants in class, and was forced to sit in it.
The mother of the 7-year-old girl said that her daughter had a traumatizing day at school, after having an accident. She said that when she picked her daughter up from Jacksonville Heights Elementary, the child was a mess.

The mother, who said she didn’t want to be identified, told Action News Jax about what the daughter’s teacher had said to her.
“Her teacher approached me at the gate and said that (my daughter) had not been feeling good. So (the teacher) sent her to the restroom and (my daughter) had an accident on herself,” said the mother.
The mother said the teacher wrapped the child’s jacket around her and sent her back to her seat.

The mother said she believes her daughter’s accident happened before school dismissal, based on what the teacher had told her.
“I didn't notice it until I got back to the car and got home. I then noticed the extent of (the accident). I don't know how long but it had to be a while because it was dried up on her,” the mother said.
It was all in her shoes and down her pants, she said.
The mother said she spoke twice with the principal on the matter.

“She said the teacher had already left the school for the holiday and that I would hear back when school starts back on Jan. 5,” said the mother.
Duval County Public Schools released the following statement before closing their offices for holiday break:
We were able to look into your inquiry. While we understand this is a sensitive issue for both parent and child, at no time did a teacher knowingly allow a student to sit in their soiled pants. As the class was being released at the end of the day, a dismissal teacher noticed the child's pants were soiled. At the same time, the parent arrived at the school and was immediately informed by the teacher. It was determined the student went to the bathroom on themselves near dismissal time and did not report this issue to the teacher. Additionally, the teacher stated the pants were soiled, but not to the extreme nature as represented by the photos provided. The parent and principal have since had multiple conversations in an effort to address her concerns."
