ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A couple escaped and firefighters saved their dog before flames engulfed a St. Augustine home on Saturday morning.
We brought you this story as breaking news on Action News Jax This Morning.
Clarence Murray said he woke up to the sound of his wife's screams at their home on Woodlawn Street.
She was yelling about a fire near an outlet in their bedroom.
Murray and his wife escaped, and firefighters saved Murray's best friend -- his dog.
St. Johns County Fire and Rescue said it took 15 minutes to knock down the main fire before they were able to get a handle of the situation. They used two hoses to fight the blaze inside the house.
Murray told Action News Jax he saw his entire livelihood go up in flames in minutes.
He stood feet away and watched as firefighters tore down portions of paneling to ensure there were no hot spots.
"I’m glad we made it out alright,” Murray said.
