JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A small dog survived after jumping off the Mathews Bridge.
Now the Jacksonville Humane Society is trying to find a home for the Chihuahua/Dachshund mix appropriately named Bridgette.
The little four-pound dog somehow ended up running along the Mathews Bridge.
Michelle Munley saw the little dog, got out of her car and tried to catch Bridgette.
But before she knew it, the dog jumped.

“Honestly I felt like a knife went through my stomach because I felt responsible that I had scared the dog,” Munley said.
Munley thought it was over but then, she couldn’t believe it: She saw the dog in the St. Johns River.
“I hopped the median and went to the other side and I saw the puppy in the middle of the water and the kids on the boat they scooped her right up.”
The dog is still a little nervous and jumpy, but has no injuries. Visit the Humane Society's website and Facebook page for more information on adopting Bridgette.
