The Duval County Public Schools announced Thursday morning that all outdoor activities for the day and after-school activities are canceled because of smoke and ash from the West Mims fire.

The cancelation is a precaution to ensure the safety of all students and staff, according to school officials.
Officials said they will continue to monitor the effects of the smoke and air quality by communicating with the Jacksonville Emergency Operations Center.
As a result of the #WestMims wildfire and its related smoke and ash, all outdoor activities for TODAY, 5/11 are cancelled.
