JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said two people have died and two people are hurt after an early morning fire Tuesday.
Crews said the fire started at a duplex near 1st Street and Huron Street just around 1 a.m. and spread to a nearby home, in Jacksonville’s Woodstock area.
After putting out the fire, firefighters said they found a person that died. During a COVID-19 news conference on Tuesday afternoon, JFRD Chief Keith Powers confirmed a second person had died.

The Red Cross is working to find temporary shelter for as many as 12 people who were displaced in the fire.
The two other people that were hurt, were taken to the hospital. One of them has critical injuries and was taken to the UF Health Shands Burn Center in Gainesville, officials said.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
