JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATED STORY 7/15/2021:
Sad update from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, they say Matthew Sharpe, who was reported missing Wednesday night, has been found dead.
Police say around midnight Thursday morning, they located Sharpe in the waters of Julington Creek.
JSO says there is no indication of foul play and appears to be a “tragic accident.”
However, both JSO and the Medical Examiner’s Office will continue to investigate Sharpe’s death to ensure foul play was not involved.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is seeking help in finding a man who went missing under ‘unusual circumstances’ Wednesday afternoon.
Matthew Sharpe, 33, was last seen walking his dog between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Wednesday around the Julington Creek Marina, on the 12800 block of San Jose Boulevard.
Around 1:30 p.m. the victim’s dog was found swimming in the water with its leash still attached.
JSO said he was reported missing just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Sharpe is a white male, 5′10′', 170 pounds, with dark brown hair and blue eyes.
His clothing is unknown.
