JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Russell Colburn will have the full story on FOX30 at 6.
Neighbors told Action News Jax a man was having a medical episode when he slammed into a parked SUV and pushed it through a garage door in a Southside residential area.
A man who lives next door said the driver appeared to be having a seizure after the crash, so he grabbed an oxygen tank from his home to assist the driver before paramedics arrived.
Chris Miele was by his pool with his family Friday night when he heard a loud noise. He said it sounded like a gunshot.
“We started hearing this loud crashing, and tires screeching, and then a huge crash,” Miele said. “I told my wife, ‘He’s having a seizure,’ so she ran and got oxygen and we got him got out of the car. Of course, everyone called 911, but it was pretty chaotic.”
He got the man oxygen and pulled him out of the car to safety as it was smoking and leaking fuel. This video shows EMTs attending to the driver minutes later. Don’t miss this story ONLY on @ActionNewsJax at 6! @BenBeckerANjax @bridgetteANjax pic.twitter.com/hWFwoPIvqY

It was all hands-on deck for this neighborhood.
“[We] made sure that he was stable as possible, pretty much until the EMT could arrive,” said another neighbor, Germel Dasalla.
Neighbors said the man appeared to be doing better in the ambulance, but there has been no official word from police or fire officials.
Miele said when he saw this, social distancing was the last thing he was thinking of with a life at stake.
“I didn’t even remember it, because he was definitely in danger,” Miele said. “When I saw smoke, I didn’t know if the car was going to blow or anything, so just knew we had to get him out of there and get him safe, because the car looked unsafe, fuel and everything was pouring out onto the driveway.”
