ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Families of a young mother and her accused killer came together in West Augustine on Sunday to show unity against violence.
Deputies said Jamie Wilson was killed by her boyfriend Johnny Williams Jr. on Tuesday. He also killed an 18-year-old after he opened fire on a group of people shortly after he shot Wilson, deputies said.
Wilson and Williams' families held a Come Together Day event at Calvin Pete Park in West Augustine to show they stand in unity against the violence.
They had a potluck and students from St Augustine High School, Wilson’s alma mater, washed cars to raise money for the families.
“We have both families grieving,” said Alesia Wilson, Jamie’s sister. “It is mostly a benefit, but mostly it’s a happy time because we have children out here and we can show the children that we can all come together instead of being divided.”
Officers are still searching for Williams.
They believe he could be hiding out in Jacksonville or making his way to family in the Atlanta area.
