ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Two families were united by grief and desperation at a vigil in St. Augustine on Sunday.
Annette Ray Durden said one of the bodies found in a burned SUV last Wednesday belongs to her 27-year old son Charles.
She said she identified him to police by his watch.
“I don’t have a body,” Durden said. “I can’t lay his body to rest. I don’t know if he suffered before he left the face of this earth.”

Durden was friends with 26-year old Stefon Larry, the second victim.
His family told Action News Jax the charred SUV belonged to him.
“There’s a lot of frustration,” Sandra Wright, Larry’s mother, said. “There’s anger, there’s hurt and confusion.”
The questions began early Wednesday when St. Augustine police were called to a burning SUV on Spring Street near Fred Waters Way.
Once firefighters put out the flames, investigators found two bodies inside. They were burned too badly to be identified immediately.

Four days later, police have not made any arrests and are still following leads.
The families of Durden and Larry met at the crime scene on Sunday, where a memorial for the two men has been growing.
During an emotional vigil, the mothers of the two men pleaded for answers.
"I’m praying to God that somebody please come forward,” Durden said. “These two kids didn’t deserve to go out like that.”
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal's Office are also investigating the incident.
Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and receive a possible reward.
