Family members are remembering their loved one who was killed in a car crash in Jacksonville on Saturday.
Florida Highway Patrol said 37-year-old Dion Greene’s car went over the side of a ramp near the Acosta Bridge exit and landed in a construction site.
Greene’s son tells Action News Jax he wishes he had more time with his dad.
Dion Greene Jr. said he'll always hold pictures of him close to his heart.
“Everyone tells me I have my mom’s smile, but I have his face,” Green Jr. said.
Greene said his father, who identifies as a woman, loved spending time with her two sons.
“He always had this outgoing attitude towards everybody,” Greene Jr. said. “He doesn’t care who look at him wrong, he still is going to act that way because this is life.”
Greene said the accident happened as his dad was driving home from work.
Three veterans who saw the accident in their rearview mirror said Greene veered off the road and hit a cement barrier on I-95.
They said her car then flipped over the barrier and into a construction area.
The three men tried to perform CPR but it was too late.
“We were prying doors open,” said David swanson. “They were bent to the point where we had to literally pry and we just pulled her out.”
Greene Jr. said he is thankful that they tried to save his father.
FHP is still investigating what caused Greene to veer off the interstate.
Greene’s son said his dad talked about going to a mechanic to have the transmission fixed last week.
“I hope we can actually figure out what really happened,” he said. “I miss him so much, I really do. He means everything. I miss him so much. I’ve been crying all night.”
He said he wishes he could tell his dad how much he loves him.
