Family rescues 5 baby squirrels after Yulee tornado

A family rescued five baby squirrels after a tornado uprooted several trees in their yard in Yulee.

“They were actually in the flower pot when the tree fell," Leslie Baker said. "I kept hearing screeching and I looked down and there was a flower pot full of squirrels."

Baker said she and her family believe some of the babies are from different litters.

Some of the babies had not yet opened their eyes.

She said her family works with the Wildlife Rescue Coalition of Northeast Florida and has raised squirrels and raccoons in the past.

They have been feeding the babies kitten formula mixed with Pedialyte once an hour and keeping them warm with a heated blanket.
