Father outraged that Orange Park FYE store has pornographic material out in the open

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — A local man is complaining that a local record store is selling porn, and it’s right out in the open. That man said he has been banned from protesting against that store, which is selling mature merchandise in the same place where kids can pick up CDs and movies.

“Orange Park Mall, FYE, would be the last place you expect to see porn,” said Todd Trapani, a father.

Trapani has a 15-year-old son. He’s outraged, saying young kids, like his son, can easily see pornography at the record store FYE. Action News Jax went inside to check it out. We snapped pictures. It was easy to find, just. Just flip the bunny cover over, and there it is – sexually suggestive images and titles.

Trapani said he asked FYE to do something about it, and he even started a petition, and has around 50 signatures.

“I confronted them, and I told them they need to lock them up, and they didn’t take me seriously,” he says.

It’s not the only FYE store. Action News Jax called the FYE store located in Arlington and was told there is soft-core porn out on its floors as well. Several calls to FYE’s corporate office in New York went unanswered.

Action News Jax researched the law and found items that could be harmful to children should, “be displayed, either individually or collectively, behind an opaque covering which conceals the book, magazine, or other printed material.”

They Clay County Sheriff’s Office said, “If the SAO believed that probable cause existed, we would review the matter with a judge of competent jurisdiction to determine if sufficient probable cause existed to make an arrest.”

“But if you are going to have it, for God sakes, have it locked up, and that’s all I ask,” Trapani says.

Orange Park Mall General Manager John Westbrook sent Action News Jax the following statement:

"Orange Park Mall is committed to providing an enjoyable shopping environment for shoppers of all ages.  Although we do not manage the daily operations of mall businesses, we do require that they adhere to standards as set forth by Florida law."
