More than a dozen 911 calls reveal the moments after a semi truck hit a pickup truck and caught fire on I-95 Monday night.
Officials said the deadly crash happened on the southbound exit ramp of Interstate 95 at State Road 16 around 9:20 p.m.
"I am just making sure someone called it in, there was like an explosion, there is a huge fire on 16," one caller said.
A 75-year-old man from South Carolina was killed after he drove his pickup truck across all southbound lanes of traffic and directly in front of the semi, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash caused the semi truck to hit the guardrail, where it began to leak fuel and catch fire, troopers said.
One caller said the fire was blazing out of control.
"I was afraid to stop because it is engulfed in flames," another caller said.
The semi truck driver had minor injuries.
