Hastings Youth Academy employee arrested after teens allegedly have sex

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — An employee at the Hastings Youth Academy was arrested after two teens had sex on the property, deputies said.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said a teen disclosed the sexual activity to a counselor. The teen said the staff member watched.

The teens, ages 14 and 17, were cleaning floors in April while 25-year-old Laporsha McCall supervised. The teen told deputies they asked McCall if they could have sex.

Deputies said McCall allowed the two have sex while she stood in the doorway. Deputies said surveillance video showed McCall in the area looking around and at the room.

Officials contacted McCall the day after her birthday on May 24 and agreed to do an interview the next day, deputies said. However, she never showed for the interview.

McCall was arrested on June 29. She is charged with lewd and lascivious behavior and child neglect.
