3 people fired shots in deadly Jacksonville Beach shooting, witness says

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Three people opened fire on a man during Fourth of July festivities at Jacksonville Beach after one gunman stole his necklace, according to an arrest warrant.

A newly released arrest warrant details what led to the deadly shooting at Jacksonville Beach in the early morning hours of July 5.

Javoris Price, 18, is facing murder and armed robbery charges in the death of Glen McNeil Jr., but a witness told police two other people opened fire outside Sea Walk Pavilion.

Video posted to Facebook shows McNeil got into a fight with someone outside Surfer The Bar at some point before the shooting.

The fight ended and McNeil and the man "hugged it out," a witness told police.

The arrest warrant says several people, including Price, were taunting McNeil during and after the fight.

One of the people in the group tried to take McNeil's backpack from him. He pulled it back and they continued to taunt him, the arrest warrant says.

A man who is not identified in the report tried to snatch McNeil's gold necklace from him.

The warrant says a man wearing a camouflage hat, later identified as Price, ripped the necklace from McNeil's neck.

According to the arrest warrant, Price told McNeil, "You don't want any of this. You don't want to mess with us."

McNeil followed the group and asked them to give back the necklace as they walked down First Street.

McNeil stopped following the group but then walked back toward them with his right hand in his backpack.

Witnesses told police they heard a woman yell, "He got a gun. He got a gun," then 10 to 12 gunshots.

One witness saw up to three people shoot at McNeil, according to the warrant. Price continued to shoot at McNeil as he fled to the Walgreens near Third Street, witnesses said.

A bullet hit McNeil is the torso near his shoulder. He was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he died.

A second person was shot in the hand.

Witnesses told police they never saw McNeil with a gun. Videos and witness interviews led police to Price's identity.

Officers arrested Price on weapons charges in August after getting a warrant to search his Facebook account.

They found several photos of Price with guns and several conversations about him selling weapons.

Photos obtained by police showed Price with weapons in the hours before the shooting.

A warrant was issued for Price on Nov. 2. He is charged with second-degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in McNeil's death.
