Jacksonville infant abduction suspect extradited, booked at Duval jail

The woman accused of abducting an infant from a Jacksonville hospital in 1998 was extradited and booked at the Duval County Jail on Tuesday.

Officials say Kamiyah Mobley, the kidnapping victim, visited Gloria Williams at the jail in Walterboro, South Carolina before she was extradited Tuesday afternoon.

Williams is accused of kidnapping Mobley as a baby in 1998 from what is now UF Health Jacksonville.

Officials said the Mobley met with Williams for about 15 minutes on Tuesday morning. Officials said Williams' parents also visited her at the jail.

Officers said Williams posed as a nurse, took Mobley from her family and raised her as her own under the name Alexis Manigo.

Williams faces kidnapping and interference with custody charges.

Officials said she could spend the rest of her life in prison if convicted.

“The resources of the State Attorney’s Office will be dedicated to ensuring that justice happens,” State Attorney Melissa Nelson has said.
