Jacksonville mother to donate medical equipment to toddler living with microcephaly

For nearly 21 years, Josh Yarbourgh’s mother Cathy rarely left his side.

“They told us that he was going to live three weeks. Might live three months, might only live three days,” Cathy Yarbourgh.

When Josh took his last breath a few weeks ago, his mother was there.  “I’m telling you I sat right beside him. He didn’t gasp for air, he didn’t struggle he just passed,” said Cathy. The family held a memorial Monday.

Josh couldn’t hear, see, talk or move. He lived with a host of medical issues—including microcephaly, the same condition that Jacksonville toddler Ansley Rice battles today.

Ansley’s family has been trying to raise money for a wheel-chair accessible van. Cathy Yarbourgh was watching Action News Jax when she saw the story that sounded much like her own. She said she fought through the grief and sent the news station a message.

Yarbourgh said she wants to give thousands of dollars worth of medical equipment to Ansley's family. This includes a specialized lift and a chest therapy machine. The equipment helped to keep her son alive, but now she wants to help another family as a way to keep the memory of Josh alive.
