The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported a traffic accident involving a JSO cruiser on the Buckman Bridge at 4:39 a.m. Thursday.
According to JSO the officer was on the Buckman Bridge overnight due to lane closures when the cruiser was hit around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday by a suspected drunk driver.
The driver was arrested for DUI, and the officer in the cruiser was not hurt, but taken to a hospital as a precaution.
JSO was on the scene until about 5 a.m. Thursday investigating before the scene was cleared.
