JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man accused in the death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old is being held without bond in Duval County.
Jamarius Graham, the boyfriend of 2-year-old Aaliyah’s mom, appeared before a judge Saturday morning.
The 20-year-old is accused of aggravated child abuse in the 2-year-old's death.
Aaliyah's mother Donisha Barlow told Action News Jax that Graham admitted to beating Aaliyah because she had an accident.
“He came to pick me up from work. I picked her up and I say ‘What is wrong with Liyah? Why does she look like she is sad?’ He said he gave her a whooping,” Barlow said.
Barlow said she and Graham tried to get help for Aaliyah. They drove to a nearby fire station.
“I’m out there trying to do CPR on my child. I’m scared to lose my child. I feel like I’m going to lose my child right in front of me,” Barlow said.
She said Aaliyah died in her arms.
