Logan Mott case: From Florida Missing Child Alert to wanted teen
On Nov. 22, Logan Mott was the subject of a Florida Missing Child Alert, along with French, his grandmother.
Logan's father and girlfriend returned home from a vacation on Nov. 22 and were not picked up at the airport by French as previously discussed. They took an Uber to Logan's father's Neptune Beach home and found it was ransacked and guns were taken from the gun safe.
Police began searching the Neptune Beach home, as well as French's Mayport home. The search continued until Friday afternoon, when authorities announced that they had found what was likely French's body in a shallow grave in the backyard of the Neptune Beach home.
At that time, sources told Action News Jax that Logan, the guns and the Dodge Dart mentioned in the Florida Missing Child Alert were still missing. Police issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of auto theft and said Logan and the Dodge Dart were spotted on video surveillance in south central Pennsylvania.
Late Friday night, Logan Mott was taken into custody in Buffalo, New York, after he tried to enter into Canada. Authorities said he made a wrong turn on the Peace Bridge.
On Monday, JSO announced that the Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the body found in the Neptune Beach backyard was French. Logan Mott he was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, but his hearing was rescheduled.
