Mandatory evacuations issued for Nassau County start Thursday at 6 am.
Some Nassau County neighbors are already making their way off the island.
Lanae Pulice was packed up and ready to go early this afternoon.
“I have to baby sit my daughters dogs and its easier for me to go to South Carolina to get away from the storm,” said Pulice.
Nassau County emergency management director Bill Estep said flood zone areas A,C and F are under the mandatory evacuations.
“It’s an area that transits the Amelia Island and follows both the St. Mary’s River to Hilliard and follows the Nassau Sound to Callahan,” said Estep.
While on the island Action News Jax saw local care facilities evacuating patients.

Baptist Nassau is evacuating their patients and moving them to Baptist downtown.
Estep said the back up on I-95 is already showing, he said it’s a good idea for people to evacuate west rather than north where they’ll run into more traffic.
