A Mayport-based commercial fisherman suffered serious burns in an accident late Friday and had to be airlifted from his boat, according to the Coast Guard.
A family member tells Action News Jax that the victim is 44 year old Brian Lloyd, owner of the Charlotte Marie fishing boat.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The boat was located about 40 miles east of Mayport when the Coast Guard was notified of the accident at 9:40 p.m.
A helicopter crew from the Coast Guard Air Station in Savannah responded to the scene and hoisted Lloyd from the boat. He was flown to UF Health in Gainesville.
Lloyd's wife Shannon says he suffered first and second degree burns and that his condition is stable. She did not have immediate details about what happened.
