Mother of dead toddler calls boy's dad 'murderer' on Facebook

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The mother of a a toddler who was found dead Wednesday posted a message on Facebook directed at the boy's father, who was arrested on aggravated child abuse charges.

Nakesa Barnhill, mother of Amari Barnhill, 2, posted on Facebook, "U ask to be a father and say I withhold him from you and you murder your son! Your a murderer nothing else. I will seek justice for all involved. TRUST"

Amari's father, Darien Head, 21, is charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO said Amari had "severe bruising and lacerations on his buttocks" and "severe bruising on the front and back of his legs, bruising on the left side of his face/ear area and a severe laceration on his head."

Florida Department of Children and Families secretary Mike Carroll released the following statement on Amari's death:

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of this child. We will conduct a thorough investigation into all circumstances surrounding the death.  There are no verified reports of abuse or neglect concerning this child, however, we will be conducting a thorough review into all interactions with this family. We have also identified other children in this family and are taking appropriate action to ensure their safety."
