NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — A Nassau County teacher's aide was fired after the school board looked into a threatening phone call she made to a former coworker.
Thursday night, upset parents raised concerns during the school board meeting and demanded for more changes be made to school staff.
This school year at Yulee Primary School has been a whirlwind for some parents.
"I’ve been shut out by everybody," parent Stephanie Jervis said.
There have been multiple investigations that involved special needs personnel and a teacher’s aide.
"It's just ridiculous. When is enough?" parent James Young said.
Young addressed the Nassau County school board about the recent investigations.
"I just want these people that are not fit to not be around kids," Young said.
Young said his 8-year old daughter, who has special needs, was captured on video allegedly being abused on a school bus.
"The bus aide grabs my daughter's face and pushes her head against the seat. I don't understand this," Young said.
Young wasn’t the only parent who raised concerns about special needs staff in Nassau County.
Action News Jax first told you about a Florida Department of Children and Families investigation that launched in September.
In November, Action News Jax learned DCF didn't find any signs of abuse.
Wednesday, Action News Jax reported that the school board was looking into a threatening phone call to a former teacher’s aide allegedly made by Stephanie Vanzant Tyler, a paraprofessional.
And at Thursday night’s meeting Action News Jax learned Tyler has been fired.
Jervis isn’t satisfied and still has serious concerns about the people working around the children.
"She's not the only person. My daughter told me her teacher hit her. Why is everything just falling on the aide, not the teacher and the aide," Jervis said.
Another aide was on the agenda to be terminated, but as soon as the meeting started that item was removed from the agenda.
