Some people come out to Mayport to fish or even just take in the view.
But in order to get to the view off A1A, you have to pass piles of bottles, spray-painted palm trees and trash burned in a fire pit.
“This area is pretty nasty,” said fisherman Dan Eaton.
Eaton was fishing with his family. He said he can’t understand why there’s trash when there’s a place to throw it away.
“There's a dumpster right on the other side of those bushes,” said Eaton.

The trash buildup has made neighbors get on social media to spread the message to clean it up.
“I think it's here from people fishing though,” said Eaton.
Action News Jax has made calls to the city of Jacksonville to see who is responsible for the trash in the area area; they said they are looking into it.
Eaton said people need to clean up after themselves and be aware that others are now taking notice.
Neighbors on Facebook are hoping to hold a cleanup event soon.
