Crews have suspended their search for a swimmer who was pulled under by a rip current at Guana State Park in St. Johns County on Sunday.
A Coast Guard helicopter and crews from multiple agencies searched for the man in his late 20s after he went under and did not resurface around 5:45 p.m.
Officers are calling the search a recovery mission and will begin looking for him again at 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
Officers were told he went into the water to save someone else.
Crews from Coast Guard, St. Johns Fire Rescue and deputies from St. Johns County Sheriff's Office searched for him Sunday afternoon.
His identity has not yet been released.
