Holiday shopping is in full swing but online shoppers need to be vigilant when it comes to receiving their packages.
After Cyber Monday, the stream of packages for the holidays coming in and out could lure package snatchers.
There have been recent reports in Jacksonville of people stealing packages right off residents' doorsteps.
Buyers beware when doing holiday shopping online
In a video posted to Facebook, a resident from Bainebridge Estates, a neighborhood in Northside Jacksonville, said her package was stolen Wednesday, just 8 minutes after it was dropped off by a FedEx driver.
The resident said her package was delivered at 3:57 p.m. and stolen at 4:04 p.m. The resident's security camera system caught a man stealing the package from her doorstep.
Package snatching is a nationwide issue. A man from Seattle invented a device to deter thieves after a large package was stolen from his porch. He created Package Guard, an alarm system that sounds off if a package has been moved from the porch.

The program also sends a text message to the resident when the alarm goes off.
The U.S. Postal Service said there are several ways for consumers to safeguard their packages. The department recommends picking up packages from the doorstep as soon as they arrive.
People are also recommended to track the delivery day of the packages. If consumers are on vacation and unable to pick up a package, the postal service said packages can be held at their local postal office.

Having packages sent to a trusted neighbor also increases the likelihood that someone will be home to receive packages.
