Police are looking for a possible serial car wash burglar.
Surveillance video from several local self-serve car washes shows one man trying to break into coin machines.
It’s happened recently more than a dozen times at car washes in Jacksonville and Clay County.
Mark Kramer owns three self-serve car washes in Jacksonville. His Girvin Road business has been targeted three times this week.
“He pops these locks off, and then gets inside the machines,” said Kramer, who owns Pit Stop Super Wash. “More than anything, doing damage to the machines.”
Action News Jax has been digging through the police reports.
During a burglary to an Emerson Street car wash on Monday, $7,000 in cash was taken. Tens of thousands more in damage was done to equipment.
Car wash owners say the man involved in these burglaries is white, thin, and has dark hair.
He’s been known to drive a Toyota 4Runner. One of the surveillance videos shows him working with a partner.
