An 18-year-old man arrested for the murder of his grandmother will appear in court Friday afternoon.
Dylan Broughman was arrested Friday and appeared in court Friday afternoon.
His grandmother died a week after being beaten in North Arlington.
On Oct. 10, police responded to a domestic disturbance and located the 69-year-old Joyce Courson on the floor bleeding from her face. She died on Oct. 18, police said.
A witness told police that he heard Courson and her grandson, Dylan Brougham, arguing because she took and hid Broughman's beer while he was taking shower.
The witness heard a couple bangs before the victim screamed for help. The witness located Courson on the floor and saw Broughman leave the home.
Courson was taken was to the hospital. She was able to tell police that Broughman began punching holes in the walls near the kitchen while she was arguing with him.

He pushed her to the ground as Courson came down the hall near the kitchen, police said. After she was on the ground, Broughman held her down and punched her in the face repeatedly and kicked her while she was on the ground, police said.
Police later found Broughman walking on Kernan Boulevard. He was charged with aggravated battery. The charges were upgraded to homicide on Nov. 3.
