Pulse shooting victim from Jacksonville, man who rescued him reunited in Orlando

The Jacksonville father who was shot three times in the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando in June was reunited with the man who saved him on Saturday.

Josh McGill was running from Pulse nightclub when he saw a man who was shot at least once in each arm and once in the back.

McGill didn't know the man, later identified as Rodney Sumter of Jacksonville, but stopped to help.

McGill took off his own shirt to make a tourniquet for Sumter and then held him in the back of the police cruiser on the way to the hospital when there wasn't an available ambulance.

He posted on Facebook in the days following the shooting that he hoped Sumter was OK and hoped to meet him.

The two were reunited on Saturday, according to a post by Josh McGill on Facebook.

He posted a photo of the two of them together and Sumter commented on it, saying:

It was awesome to finally catch up with you and even more amazing to know we have similar views and outlooks on everything. You need something, you already know I'm there bro. Glad to make a new lifelong friend."

Sumter, a father of 10-year-old twins, had recently started working at Pulse as a bartender.

He underwent several surgeries at Orlando Regional Medical Center after the shooting and was released on June 28.

Florida Governor Rick Scott and his former high school football teammate Tim Tebow visited him at the hospital during his recovery.

His family said he will stay in the Orlando area for rehabilitation.
