Remains in submerged car IDed as serviceman missing since 2003

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The adult body found during the search for 21-month-old Lonzie Barton has been identified as Yaroslav Iventyev, 22, who was reported missing in Feb. 2003.

JSO is still waiting on a cause of death, but no foul play is suspected. Iventyev, a native of Russia, was a U.S. Navy sailor.

Iventyev's car, a 1987 Mazda, was pulled out of a retention pond off Bowden Road on July 28. JSO immediately suspected that it was Iventyev's car, which had an intact Florida license plate.

Firefighters had to use a crowbar and sledgehammer to get the rusted doors open. Iventyev's skeletal remains were inside.

The body was the second JSO found while searching for Lonzie Barton. Firefighters had to use a crowbar and sledgehammer to get the rusted doors open.
