JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A connection between a U.S. representative and an organization in Virginia is under question, according to reports.
Action News Jax pushes for answers about the subpoena served to Rep. Corrine Brown.
The organization One Door Education said it raised money for scholarships. However, the nonprofit’s tax ID number listed on its website is not with the IRS.
Sources say federal prosecutors issued subpoenas to organizations and individuals in the Orlando area requesting they show receipts, emails and other donations that went to Brown or the organization.
Brown has not commented on the federal investigation directly.
“You’ve got to understand this is a serious matter, and when you pay attorneys you need to listen to what they say,” Brown said.
Action News Jax talked to Brown many times, she said in reference to the federal investigation that it is politically motivated.
