ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A semi-truck hit a pickup truck on Interstate 95 Monday night, killing the driver, according to officials.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue said the crash between the semi and a passenger vehicle happened around 9:20 p.m. on the southbound exit ramp of Interstate 95 at State Road 16.
In addition to the semi truck being on fire, several explosions could be heard coming from the truck, SJCFR said.

FHP said the driver of the GMC pickup, 75-year-old Fred Gray of Manning, S.C., was taken to Orange Park Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was taken to Flagler Hospital for treatment of serious burns.
FHP said the 31-year-old driver of the semi-truck was traveling in the right lane and was moving to the center lane as it approached the truck. However, Gray drove off the shoulder and crossed all southbound lanes of traffic and directly in front of the semi-truck, FHP said.
The crash caused the semi-truck to hit the guardrail, where it began to leak fuel and catch on fire, troopers said.
