For the first time, we're hearing directly from students at First Coast High School about racist signs that were posted above water fountains at the school.
“The whole putting 'coloreds' and 'whites only' on the water fountains,” FCHS student Brian Foster Jr. said. “When I saw the post on Facebook, immediately, I was thinking immaturity."
Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Nikolai Vitti sent Action News Jax a statement about the signs: ‘"The signs placed on top of the fountains are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by our school district. We are investigating the matter to determine who is behind the action to provide the appropriate discipline and counseling."
While the full motive behind the signs is not clear, Duval County is not alone as racially charged incidents in schools have been happening across the country this week.

A California student was accused of handing out deportation slips and another student in California was attacked because she supported Republican Donald Trump, who won the presidential election this week over Democrat Hillary Clinton. Then there was another outburst in a Michigan middle school, as students chanted "Build the wall, build the wall."
“I think unfortunately, this election brought out a lot of power, and aggression. The other thing, I think is concerning about these incidents in the schools, it's almost like people now, think they have a license to do whatever, they want to do,” said Dr. Lynn Wadelton, with First Coast Therapy Group.
“I think it has a lot to do with the election, of course, We noticed that people are a lot more vocal, about how they feel now that we found out that Mr. Trump is going to be our president,” Foster said.
“I do think that people get their sentiment from their families and their culture,” Wadelton said.
Duval County Public Schools said the posting of the signs, which read "colored" and "whites only" appears to be a prank:
