Sister hopes for justice for 2 Jacksonville women shot

On CBS47 at 5: A Jacksonville father tells @RussellANjax that his daughter is awake and alert after she was shot in the face and her sister was killed. Police are searching for the shooter.

A Jacksonville woman is recovering as police search for the man accused of shooting her and killing her sister.

Roger Rucker tells Action News Jax that his daughter Lisa is awake and alert after being in a coma.

Lisa was shot in the face and her sister Ashlee Rucker was killed at a condo complex on San Juan Avenue on Tuesday.

Family says they expect Lisa to make a full recovery.

Police are searching for Chad Absher, the suspect in the double shooting. Family says Absher and Ashlee had an on again off again relationship.

“She was smart, she was beautiful,” said Jennifer Parang, describing her sister, Ashlee.

Parang said Absher shot and killed Ashlee in front of her 8-year-old son.

“Her son, Joseph, he saw it. He was there and he saw everything happen,” Parang said.

Parang said when the shooter came into their Cedar Hills condo, Lisa tried to intervene.

“He pulled out a gun and held it to my sister, Ashlee, pointed it at her, and our baby sister, she got in the middle and she was shot in the mouth and there’s a bullet lodged in her cheek,” Parang said. “It  just narrowly missed her spine. But she’s in critical condition. I don’t know if she’s going to make it.”

Parang is hoping for justice, and knows she may have bigger family responsibilities in the future.

“I looked up to the sky and I said, ‘I promise that I’ll do whatever I can to take care of your son,' because she would do that for me,” Parang said.
