Health officials have lifted advisories at two Georgia beaches after high levels of bacteria were found in the water.
The Glynn County Health Department lifted the advisories for East Beach at the old Coast Guard station and Massengale Park Beach on St. Simons Island Thursday.
Beach goers were advised to avoid swimming June 27 after routine water quality tests showed a high level of enterococci bacteria, which increases the risk of gastrointestinal illness in swimmers.
Subsequent water tests showed that the bacteria levels had dropped below Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended limits.
