JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Pamela Smith says she and her husband come to Walmart on Lem Turner a couple times a month.
She says it is hard to believe that a dead woman's body was found inside an SUV in the parking lot on Wednesday.
"If it was here for a week, that is still way too long,” she said. “I find it odd that security didn't notice it. I have been here many times when security would go up and down the aisles of this place.”
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office tells Action News Jax that it appears the SUV had been parked in the parking lot for approximately two weeks.
Family members of a missing Jacksonville woman told police they found her body inside her Nissan Murano in the parking lot on Wednesday evening.
Police said the SUV matches the description of a car in a missing person case.
A report from JSO says 54-year-old Cindy Bland was reported missing by her father on Aug. 28.
He told police they got into a fight on Aug. 23 and the next morning she went to a dentist appointment.
That was the last time he saw her, he told police.
People shared photos of her and her SUV on social media.
JSO has not yet confirmed the identity of the body.
"I can’t imagine what they are going through but they will be in our thoughts and prayers,” Smith said.
JSO says that they are reviewing surveillance video, and they don’t expect foul play in this case.
