A 19-year-old from Ponte Vedra Beach was arrested Thursday at the University of North Florida on two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of transmission of child pornography.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said Neal Buckles is a UNF student, and they have been investigating this case for the last month after receiving a cyber tip.
The arrest report gives several graphic details about the type of pictures Buckles allegedly had in his possession, involving young boys engaging in sexual acts.
It also states that the cyber tip they received a month ago led them to two email address and an IP address that traced back to Buckles at an address in Ponte Vedra Beach, where the pictures had been uploaded.
Buckles claims ties to local church on Facebook
Action News Jax checked Buckles’ Facebook page, which states he is a student at UNF majoring in child psychology.
That Facebook page also shows promotion for Buckles’ Babysitters advertising as a sitter as recently as two days ago, with availability for the rest of this month and into October.
Buckles also lists himself as a childcare provider at The Church of Eleven22. We have reached out to the church for confirmation, and spoke to two people there that told us they do not have a comment and will be in touch with us at a later time.
We found a post from May 22 from Buckles to the Young Adults of Eleven22 Facebook page saying that he is looking for babysitting opportunities and is currently employed as a childcare provider.
The report from deputies also adds at the end that further charges will possibly follow in the future.
Right now, Buckles is in jail without bond until he appears in court on Friday. Once we hear back from the Church of Eleven22, we will let you know.
