CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A 62-year-old woman and 67-year-old man from Orange Park were killed in a car accident on Monday.
Troopers have not yet released the name of the two people killed in the crash on U.S. 17 at Village Square Parkway.
A crash report said the woman was driving a 2017 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Village Square Parkway around 12:55 p.m. when it collided with a semi truck.
She was trying to cross U.S. 17 and the front of the Sonata hit the right side of the trailer near a set of wheels, the report said. The Sonata spun out several times.
The man died at the scene. The woman was taken to Baptist Medical Center South but she died from her injuries.
Two people inside the semi truck were not injured.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Charges are pending further investigation, troopers said.
