Wendy Stokes relies on her car to make a living.
She’s an Uber driver and Sunday after dropping someone off at Avesta Grande Pointe Apartments, she accidentally drove into a pothole.
“I did not realize that there was anything. People drive through puddles all the time. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a puddle,” Stokes said.

About 2 inches of water has receded and there’s another 5 inches of water that’s still in the hole.
“They went ahead and filed a claim, so I’m now at Auto Nation Collision Center they’re having to look at my car,” Stokes said.
We met Stokes as she went to get the estimate and the total bill was more than $700.
“Who’s going to pay for the damage to my car,” Stokes said.
We went to the complex and saw the hole was roped off Monday.
The complex told us to call their media number, and a spokesperson said they’re working with JEA.
JEA says they’re looking into the underground lines to see what’s causing the issue.
“I don’t want to see someone else’s car get damaged either. I don’t want to see someone else get hurt,” said Stokes.
