VIDEO: Old Town Trolley tour bus catches fire

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A handful of firefighters with the city of St. Augustine helped save a man when the Old Town Trolley Tours bus caught fire.

in the video posted by the City of St. Augustine Fire Department, you can see firefighters dousing the bus with water as smoke billows out.

A neighbor who didn’t want to go on camera tells me the saw of flames when he looked out his window.

It happened at the busy intersection of Ponce de Leon Blvd. and Rhode Avenue shortly before 8:00 a.m.

When he went outside, he noticed the police had blocked the road and firefighters were putting out the flames.

Action News Jax did reach out to the owner of old town trolley tours, and he tells me no one was hurt --- only the driver was on board at the time.

The St. Augustine Fire department told me the driver started smelling something funny.

He thought it was the heater, but the bus soon started filling up with smoke.

A nearby neighbor told me that driver was on his way to fuel up before work when the fire broke out, but it only took around 2-3 minutes before firefighters were on the scene.

Both the owner and the fire department told it appears this was an electrical fire.

The fire department told me traffic in the area was delayed for about 30 minutes before the bus was towed away.
