Wawa applies for permits for second Jacksonville location

Plans are moving forward for the building of a second Wawa store in Jacksonville.

According to the Jax Daily Record, Wawa applied for permits to the city last week to build a gas station and convenience store at 6787 Wilson Boulevard, which is near the intersection of Lane Avenue.

Wawa is known for serving hoagies, freshly brewed coffee and soups, sides and snacks. Right now, the first store in the area is going up on Town Center Parkway in The Crossing. No word on when exactly the construction will begin.

In June, Wawa CEO Chris Gheysens told Action News Jax that construction on stores would begin in the spring of 2017 and would open in late 2017.

Locations for other Wawa stores have previously been revealed, but are not yet in the permitting stage:

-Monument and McCormick roads, Jacksonville
-Beach Boulevard and Central Parkway, Jacksonville
-Blanding Boulevard and Filmore Street, Orange Park

The Jax Daily Record also reports that a second Clay County site is being reviewed – Blanding Boulevard and Henley Road – and there may be another potential site in Jacksonville at Oakleaf Corner.

Wawa says it wants to open 30 to 40 stores in Northeast Florida, and the stores are expected to bring 1,000 jobs to the area.

Plans for Wawa in Jacksonville are moving forward as the chain requested permits for its second planned location. The chain already has permits for a store at Gate and Town Center parkways:
