Reports: 18-year-old abducted from Jacksonville hospital in 1998 knew for 2 years

A woman who was abducted as an infant from a Jacksonville hospital more than 18 years ago is speaking for the first time.

Kamiyah Mobley, 18, who wants to be known as Alexis Manigo, spoke about the arrest of the only woman she's known as mother.

Gloria Williams was arrested last week in South Carolina.

Manigo said Wednesday morning on "Good Morning Americathat it was difficult for her to see Williams in handcuffs.

“It did hurt that they had her in cuffs,” Manigo said. “She’s a gentle woman.”

Williams made her first appearance before a judge Wednesday morning in Duval County Court. She is charged with kidnapping and is being held without bond.

Arika Williams told People magazine that she long believed that she was Manigo's half-sister. She said Gloria Williams told Manigo that she was abducted after Manigo was hired at a local restaurant and needed to provide a birth certificate and Social Security information.

Arika Williams told People magazine that Gloria Williams told Manigo that she had been pregnant but suffered a miscarriage.

Officials are continuing to investigate the case.
