If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you may want to consider soaking up the warm weather at Adventure Landing Shipwreck waterpark.

On Friday, the waterpark opened for the first time this year. However, a portion of the park will be roped off as construction crews continue working on the new $1 million attraction.

Action News Jax got a sneak peek of the pirate-themed play place that’s set to unveil next month.

The new complex features five new slides and a giant bucket that dumps endless amounts of water.

Dawn Wade, a manager at Adventure Landing, said this is the first major addition to the waterpark since 2009.

“The detail on it is fantastic. It's got a lot of great elements for the kids to enjoy,” Wade said. “We think it needed a makeover. The other one had been out here for a long time."

The attraction is replacing the old pirate-play village, which Wade said was in need of an upgrade.

The park said inspections will be done in the coming weeks.

The grand opening date has not been announced.
